Articles of Faith
Article of Faith Resources! From free printables to memorization tips! Find all the best ideas I have found here!
When learning the articles of faith I would strongly suggest the first thing you do is to print off some printables to refer to! Personally I love things that are pretty, and I looked far and wide before I found these! They are by far my favorite and even better they are free! They are from simplyfreshdesigns.com and I LOOOOOVE them They have a variety of printing options including 3x4, 6x4, and 8x10!
Personally I printed out all of the 8x10 posters and then laminated them! Having the articles of faith written out and in front of you is a great way to start, and when you see these laying around they can be a good motivator to get you to start memorizing! You could even have a picture frame somewhere in your house and switch them out as you learn them!

While searching around for some fun activities to go with the articles of faith, I came across these fun puzzles! Great for younger kids too! The link will take you to sugardoodle.net ~ and gives you 3 options! 2 different fonts, and then a third that is in Spanish! This activity is great for younger kids too! What I did:
I liked the 2nd font the best so I used that file and... Printed out the "base" of the puzzle (or the page that comes first) on white card stock. Printed out the pieces of the puzzle on a different color of card stock. ~ You can print them on different colored paper depending on what the puzzle is like The ninth one I printed on yellow since it was the sun ~ Cut out the pieces and then laminated the base and the pieces. Cut the pieces out after laminating, and then enjoyed some puzzle time! Enjoy! I looked around for some time trying to find some Article of Faith Que cards, and I ended up finding these ones: I'm not exactly sure where I found these. I downloaded them and made several copies for the children in my primary class a few months back. But I do know they were created by Melanie Day, thanks Melanie!
Reasons why I like them: 1. I like that the que cards are shaped like the number of the Article of Faith it refers too. 2. I like that they have a place to punch a hole so you can put them on a ring. 3. I like that they can prompt children what to say next if they forget. The Que Cards are obviously for older kids who know how to read - but I like the idea of having que cards instead of the whole article of faith written out to look at, that way it promotes memorization! It works really well for articles of faith that have a list of things like in 6, 7, and 13 - they can see what the first letter of the next word is, instead of looking at the whole word. What I Did: Printed them out on card stock Colored each one a different color - by outlining in marker and coloring with crayon in the middle Cut them out - including the holes in the numbers (but not the hole punch holes yet!) Laminated them And then cut them out and punched the holes! Enjoy! So here is the deal: if you want to learn the Articles of Faith, or you want to teach them to your children, the best way is by singing the songs! Here is a link to the music: Once you click on the link, scroll down to "W" and you will find all the links to the songs - which plays the music for you! Click on the little part in blue and it will take you to the music online - which you can also download! How it Works in Our Family: In our family our goal is to read scriptures every night....yeah that doesn't always happen. But we do always sing at least one Article of Faith before prayer! You can start with the first one. I think we sung it every night for a couple weeks until my daughter had it down, and then we moved on to number two. The first one really isn't long, and you will be amazed how fast your child will memorize it! Now that we have gone through more, and my daughter knows most of them, we each pick one article of faith to sing every night. My daughter usually picks number 4, her favorite. And my husband has been working in order to memorize all of them and right now he is working on 9, but almost has that one down so will be moving on to 10 soon! My daughter knows them all the way through number 10, so lately I have been singing number 11, as soon as she has that one down I will move on. Sometimes we go through all of them by singing them together or taking turns. But it is working amazingly well! This would be a great way to start getting in the habit of scripture study every night! The way we read scriptures is a ton of work (but awesome): On nights when we get everything out and read scriptures we start by singing our articles of faith while I get everything ready to do scripture people! And on nights when we don't get scripture stuff out we just sing the Articles of Faith, say family prayer, and go to bed. When she was smaller and not ready for scripture people we read out of the scripture picture books instead of scripture people.
Anyway back to the topic - try singing the Articles of Faith every night! If you really want to memorize them - this is the way! |
