1 ~ Choices and Consequences
There are many people in the world who were never taught about choices and consequences when they were younger, seriously, just look around and you can see them everywhere it's sad but true. Teaching your child to take responsibility for their choices, in my opinion, is one of the most important things you can teach your child. Teach gently and lovingly! Show your child how sometimes things they do don't just effect themselves, and when they do hurt other people - saying sorry can make a huge difference!
2 ~ Saying Sorry
Practice saying sorry with your child. If they are young enough, and you are into sign language, you can also teach them that. Look for opportunities in your child's life to teach them how to say sorry. Again, do so lovingly and gently. I once heard someone say (I'm not sure who it was), "You should correct your child the same way someone is corrected in the temple." They don't yell in the temple or get super upset. They are full of patience, understanding and love. They gently take you aside and quietly correct anything that is not right. I have made this my goal as far as correcting my child and it has mad a world of difference in our relationship, and in my attitude toward parenting!
